Rob started working at the dealerships in 1977 after earning his degree from the University of Virginia. Rob learned the car business from the ground up and now as President is responsible for the day-to-day operations and overseeing all the dealerships.
Rob and his wife, Bonnie, have two children, David and Lewis, who are both with the Modern organization, and they are proud to have five grandchildren, Lily, Emmy, Abby, Kate, and Luke.
Rob is an avid golfer and he and Bonnie also breed, train and show Keeshonds. There have been lots of champions in their home but mostly they are beloved pets.
As if having an automotive business isn’t enough, Rob spends some of his free time at home racing slot cars with family and friends. A true car enthusiast.
Omnia followed his dad, Fred Fowler, into the car business and started working part-time in the Modern dealerships in 1985. He went full-time in 1991 after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Go Vols! Omnia is Senior Vice President of Retail Operations.
Omnia is a proud father of five children; Ashton, Garrett, Eliza Wyatt, and Anastasia, and husband to wife, Jennifer. When Omnia isn’t overseeing operations at Modern Automotive, he and Jennifer spend much of their spare time watching the kids participate in all their various activities. He also likes to play golf, deep sea fishing and collecting old baseball memorabilia and has a sizable collection of baseball cards.
As one of the fourth generation of Fowlers at Modern, Fred’s son, West, loves the outdoors second only to his love for the family business, which he joined in 1993. That was a big year for West as he was also married that same year. He and his wife have 3 children. West was born and raised right here in Winston-Salem and attended Mount Tabor High School then went on to graduate from Appalachian State.

Lewis is one of several fourth-generation Fowlers who have gone into the family business. Born and raised right here in Winston-Salem, he came on as a full-time employee in 2007 after working various part-time jobs in the dealerships since he was 14. Lewis has three girls, Lily, Emily & Kate and they love to attend Wake Forest football games.
As one of the 4th generation of Fowlers at Modern, David chose to follow his dad, Rob, into the family business in 2009. David was born and raised right here in Winston-Salem, where he still lives with his wife and two children. David attended Davidson College where he was on the golf team and earned his BA in Economics with a concentration in Applied Mathematics. He still enjoys playing a round of golf as well as taking in a Wake Forest game whenever he can. David has worked in the Sales Department, Internet Sales Department, Finance Department, and Service Department.
Jerry joined the Modern team in 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer. He completed his undergraduate work at UNC Charlotte and earned his MBA right down the street at Wake Forest University. Jerry was previously with the Hendrick organization for 14 years. Jerry and his wife Alana have kids ranging in age from 4 to 24.
Jim started his career in the automotive industry directly out of college and has enjoyed a productive career spanning over 35 years. During his career, Jim has experienced extensive fixed and variable operational exposure providing a thorough understanding of all aspects of dealership operations. Jim resides in Burlington, NC where he has been actively involved in numerous community non-profits and other leadership positions. He has been married to his wife Kim since 1991, and together they have 3 children; Megan, Nathan, and Grayson. When not in the dealership, Jim can be found on the golf course with friends, enjoying time fly fishing or hanging out with his Welsh Springer Spaniel (Shellie). When fall arrives the Butler’s are focused on SEC football and their support of the University of Alabama…”Roll Tide”.
Michael has been in Automotive since 2004. During this time he’s had the opportunity to work with every role in the dealership from Salesperson to General Manager. Joining Modern Automotive in 2021 as the Corporate Finance Director he believes this is his real passion. He enjoys training all the F and I managers and being part of the day-to-day operations. Michael has been married to his wife Casey since 2004. They have 2 children, Grayson and Ellisyn. When he is not working Michael loves doing things with his family like visiting DisneyWorld. He cherishes every moment he can spend watching his son play sports, or playing dolls with his little girl. As a sports fan, Michael enjoys watching the Miami Hurricanes, Chicago Cubs, Miami Dolphins, and Miami Heat.
Paul is our Director of Information Technology. He and his team keep Modern’s network infrastructure, telephony systems, security systems, computers and software running smoothly. Paul has been in the automotive business for 26 years working as a salesperson, F&I Manager, New and Used Car Manager as well as a General Sales Manager. He picked up the computer bug in 2004 and began his life as an IT professional. Hmm….maybe computer bug isn’t a good way to say that.
Paul is from New Orleans where he had the good fortune to have his elementary school, high school, college and favorite bar all on the same street!
He now lives in High Point with his wife of 25 years, Julie, and their eight-year old cattle dog/pit bull mix, Millie, a rescue pup. Paul and Julie are avid cyclists and love everything from Cyclocross racing to mountain biking and road riding. They both also give significant amounts of their time to the Bobby Labonte foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of local families and children throughout the Triad of North Carolina. Paul also enjoys traveling, music and wine, and recently took up woodworking. Just to prove he’s a true Renaissance man, Paul also loves to cook.
Paul grew up in Old Saybrook, CT where he started work in Automotive in 1989. His first role as a Service Manager was at a Buick store. He moved to North Carolina in 1993 and worked with Asbury Automotive selling cars. Paul advanced his way through all positions in the dealership including General Manager, and became Regional Used Vehicle Director for the Mid-Atlantic division in 2013. Paul’s passion has always been with retailing Used Cars and came to Modern in 2020 as the Used Vehicle Director. He enjoys helping, training, and developing the used car teams. Paul has been married since 2018 to his wife Charlotte. They enjoy music, RVing, traveling, fishing, cooking, gardening, and wine tasting.
Gary joined Modern Automotive in 2016. As the Marketing Director he is responsible for all marketing operations across the group. Gary and team are responsible for creating and executing the marketing plan, all marketing technology, earned/owned/paid media, community outreach and sponsorships, budgets, and co-op. Prior to working in automotive Gary spent 12 years working in Consumer Products Goods (CPG) marketing for Hanesbrands and Acco Brands, and about 10 years working in window coverings for HunterDouglas and their subsidiaries. He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Marketing, and a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communication. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, mountain biking, cooking, snowboarding, traveling, and music.
Tony grew up in Kingston, NY where he started work in Automotive 1986. Tony Started out as a parts counter person his first year then moved to service where he has spent the rest of his time. He moved to North Carolina in 1997. Before joining Modern Automotive in 2016 he worked for Asbury Automotive for 12 years and Hendrick automotive for 8 years. Tony started at Modern Nissan as the Service Manager, then was promoted to Corporate Service Director in late 2019. His role is to work with all service departments to ensure they are giving our customers an exceptional experience. Tony has two children and a granddaughter. Brianna, a graduate of Western Carolina University lives in Greensboro with her daughter Charlie. Lorenzo is a graduate of Clemson University and is living in Charleston SC. Tony’s favorite sports teams are the NY Giants and Yankees.
Scott started in Automotive at a Pennsylvania Pontiac Dealership in 1981 and spent 10 years as the Parts Manager. In 1992 he graduated from NADA Dealer Academy, and for the following 13 years, served as Executive Manager and Partner. Under Scott’s leadership, the Dealership grew to #3 in volume in the northeast. Scott joined Modern Automotive in 2011 as the Executive Manager of Modern Nissan of Lake Norman. In 2016 the Dealership won Nissan’s Global Award, recognizing the top 50 Nissan stores. Scott has been in the role of Corporate Parts Director for Modern since 2017 and would say his automotive career has gone full circle! Scott has been happily married to his high school sweetheart Jamie since 1985, and they enjoy traveling, the lake life, and boating with their Australian Terrier, Larry.
Denny has been involved with automotive for over 40 years. He started working in a Ford Dealership in 1985. Over the next several years he worked in different areas of the Parts Department and Service operations to expand his knowledge. He studied computer programming at the local Technical School and was instrumental in launching computer operations for the Automotive Group. In 2000 Denny was given the opportunity to start a consolidated operation in Pennsylvania growing multiple OEM brands. He led the team by taking the Ford operation to the #1 Collision and Volume Purchase spot in the country along with several other OEM Brands. Denny joined Modern Automotive in December 2022 as Associate Corporate Parts Director to support growth initiatives. Outside of work, Denny has volunteered with the local Fire Department in Pennsylvania for over 38 years and served as Fire Chief for 7 years of that time. Denny is married to his wife Donna since 1990 and they have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. They enjoy traveling and camping with their Airstream trailer and motorcycling.
Angie is currently the Corporate Controller at Modern where she’s been ensuring the numbers are lined up and accounted for since 1995. Angie lives in Advance with her husband and their black Labrador retriever, Owens. She graduated from Forsyth Tech Community College with a degree in Accounting. Angie likes shopping, gardening and travel.
As Director of Human Resources and Payroll, Michele strategically leads the human resources and payroll departments for Modern, providing expert guidance through her 20 years of progressive experience.
Michele has a BS in Human Resources Management from Madison University in Biloxi, MS and holds professional credentials in Human Resources from the HR Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management. Michele and her husband Dennis reside in Winston Salem and have three children, Morgan, Mason, and Madison.
Suzanne joined Modern Automotive in 2016 as the Corporate Trainer working with both the sales and service teams. While her primary role is working with new hires, Suzanne is always working to grow all Modern Automotive employees. Suzanne began her automotive career in 2003 selling cars thinking it would be a temporary position. 20 years later and it’s safe to say that automotive has become a lifelong career. Prior to settling into automotive Suzanne was a PGA of America golf professional and continues to play today.
Mike joined Modern Automotive in 2010 as General Counsel and Director of Compliance.
As basketball fans go, Mike may be our biggest! He was raised in Chapel Hill and is still a huge Tarheels fan. He also played college basketball at Avila University in Kansas City where he earned is Political Science degree, and now coaches his two daughters, Haley and Natalie, in their YMCA Youth Leagues!
After college, Mike worked for consumer advocate Ralph Nader as his personal assistant for 2 years before attending the University of Baltimore School of Law where he earned his law degree in 2001.
Mike operated his own law firm for 5 years and married Kirsten in 2000. They moved to Winston-Salem in 2001 where Kirsten is Section Chief for General Internal Medicine at WFUBC.
Mike burns calories working out at the gym and cheering on his favorite Tarheels. He and Kirsten enjoy traveling with their girls and have added two rescue mutts, Marley and Maddie, to the family. Mike and Kirsten were happy to return to the Tarheel state and love raising their children in Winston-Salem.
Kim came to Modern in 2012 with a BA in Economics from Salem College. She is Modern’s Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis, so yes, she’s good with numbers. Kim comes from a family-owned business and very quickly fit in with the Modern family here.
Kim and her husband, Steve, have one child, Timmy. Timmy is the catcher at High Point Christian Academy and it’s a good thing he is because one of Kim’s favorite hobbies is watching baseball! Kim also enjoys all types of cooking and baking and counts gardening as one of her favorite things.
